Mihir M. Patel is a highly respected Chemical Engineer based in Mumbai, India, with a Master’s degree from the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. Practicing since 1987, he brings over three decades of expertise in process engineering, chemical plant design, and process safety in the global Chemical Process Industry.
A certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) by PMI, USA, and a TÜV SÜD Certified Functional Safety Professional, Mihir Patel combines technical depth with project execution insight — making him a thought leader in both operations and design. He has successfully contributed to greenfield and brownfield projects in countries like India, the US, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Germany, UAE, UK, and France.
Over the years, Mihir has worked on a wide variety of plants including oil & gas, petrochemical, polymerization, and specialty chemical plants, involving both batch and continuous processes. His industry contributions span globally recognized names such as Shaw Group (Technip), Qatar Kentz (SNC Lavalin), IBI Chematur, Worley Parsons, L&T, Uhde India (Thyssen Krupp), SABIC, and Pidilite Industries Ltd.
In 2015, while working in Doha, Qatar, Mihir began writing his flagship chemical engineering handbook — a comprehensive resource for practicing and aspiring engineers. Released in early 2018, the book has been embraced worldwide and is often referred to among the best chemical process books in India. His work includes deep dives into chemical engineering courses in India, practical case studies, and Excel templates for chemical engineers that are widely used in the industry.
Mihir is passionate about empowering the next generation of engineers and regularly contributes content on online process engineering in India, simulation techniques, and chemical plant design tools. His goal is to simplify complex concepts and provide real-world value to engineers across disciplines.
